After years without funding, the Seattle Office of Emergency Management kicked off a new grant program to provide earthquake retrofitting to low income residents.

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels cut the ribbon at the first completed project, at the Valentine home in the Ravenna neighborhood.  Jackson Remodeling/Sound Seismic, one of six preferred contractors for the program, upgraded the home earlier for seismic safety.
